Is your dream to add so much body and volume to your ponytail that it bounces as you walk? Look no further than these tips and tricks to create the bounciest and most beautiful pony you’ve ever experienced.
A tale as old as time is to tease your ponytail to create more volume. However, you were probably taught to create volume on top of your head for an elevated look. This creates a bump-like style at the crown of your head, which isn’t as trendy as it used to be.
Instead, try teasing only the hair in the ponytail. Separate the hair with a teasing comb and tease the top and bottom layers to create volume. Finish it off with some hairspray to lock in that volume and add shine to your pony.
Texturizing spray is like magic in a bottle for fine hair. It creates depth and separation in your strands, making it appear more full of body. Texturizing spray can also double as dry shampoo. It gives a hint of scent to your locks and is excellent for holding braids in place. Waves created from braids left in your hair also add volume to a pony.
Curling your hair once you put it in a ponytail can give you a fuller and more voluminous look. Texturizing spray can make your layers look more defined, and that can give your ponytail the volume you desire as well. Spray some texturizing spray on your ponytail and finger through it – don’t brush. This is an easy technique that can give you the desired effect.
Dry shampoo can refresh and revive your hair in between washes. But, you can also use it to add more volume to your hair. Using dry shampoo on clean hair can pump up the volume to create a fuller-looking ponytail for your tresses.
Spray dry shampoo from the middle of your hair to the ends to create more texture and give it more oomph. Or, spray dry shampoo on your hands and work it through your hair. Texturizing sprays can leave a sticky residue in your hair, while dry shampoo will give you those “piecey” vibes you want without any stickiness.
One of the easiest ways to give your ponytail more volume is to put your hair in a double ponytail. There are two ways to achieve this look.
The first one is as simple as it sounds, but you must have long enough hair to do it. Put most of your hair in a ponytail, leaving some down on the bottom against your neck. Then, put that hair in a ponytail right underneath the main one. Fluff the top part of your ponytail to hide the lower one.
For the second method, put all of your hair into a regular ponytail. As you wrap the ponytail around your hair, stop before you make your final loop with the ponytail holder. On the last loop with your ponytail holder, only wrap the bottom part of your ponytail with it, leaving the top part out. This will create a two-dimensional ponytail with more volume than a plain one.
This low pony hack is so popular right now that it’s gone viral on TikTok. It’s relatively easy to do and makes your hair appear longer and more full than it is.
Begin with putting your hair half up on the back of your head. Loosen your ponytail holder and invert your hair from the half pony into a hole you create above the ponytail holder, flipping it inside out. Then, twist it as you put the remainder of your hair into the hole, creating a full and voluminous ponytail at the nape of your neck.
Tighten your ponytail and fluff it up until you achieve the look you want!
