Type 2C hairstyles aren’t always what you picture for curly hair. That’s because your gorgeous locks are technically wavy by professional hair stylists.

If you have 2C hair, you have the advantage of having some of the most versatile hair to show off. You just may have not seen your hair advertised in them.

Here are seven styles to show off your 2C hair.

Bob

You may not think of the bob as a curly hairstyle, but they’re a great way to feature your waves.

Bobs became mainstream in the 1920s as a symbol of defiance against gender roles. The style died down in the 1930s but was brought back in the 1960s and has been around ever since.

Hollywood icons have consistently revived the style, but the trend for a while was sleek and straight, seemingly forcing bob-lovers to tame their curls.

Who says we have to keep our curls long?

People have finally realized that the curly bob is gorgeous and can work differently.

You can go for a blunt-cut bob that adds volume or a layered bob that takes the weight off to give your waves an extra bounce.

To style your bob, use a curl creme on wet hair and diffuse it dry. Your waves should fall into form, giving you a practically effortless look.

Long and Layered

Your 2C hair has the benefit of being gorgeous already, so why not let it cascade around you?

Having longer waves can be both elegant and fun depending on your needs, and there are tons of ways you can style them.

This style hit the mainstream with millennials and gen Z, and it’s about time we recognize the lushness of this look.

Layering your long waves helps to remove weight while keeping your ends where you want them. Having multiple layers can also help if you want a bit more tameness.

Try throwing in some extra-curled pieces into your hair, but using a curling iron to give your hair even more dimension.

Pixie

A classic pixie cut works for any hair type, but 2C hairstyles have the benefit of being versatile.

The pixie cut originated in the 1950s when silver screen actresses like Audrey Hepburn scoffed at the coifs and long waves convention. The haircut soon was an example of going against societal expectations.

Your hair will give this short look extra texture and dimension it can take other hair types much longer to achieve. A tousled finish can help you get away with hardly using products at all!

Front Bangs

Having front bangs is a great way to show off your waves.

If you’re looking to change up your look, having some curly waves featured in front can be a great way to frame your face and add volume to your style.

Make sure when your bangs are cut, you have them cut longer than you intend them to be. That way, the bounce back will give you your perfect length.

Curly bangs are also much easier to care for than straight bangs. Just put in your favorite curl cream for hold and you’re ready to go!

Deep Side Part

A deep, dramatic side part is absolutely stunning for 2C hairstyles! This style gives you lucious volume and shows off your curly waves effortlessly.

Simply section your hair off of your eye to make one side noticeably thicker  than the other and add mouse for hold and bounce.

This look is an easy way to make a statement with any outfit.

Half-Up

Your waves love to show off, but if you need some out of the way, a half-up hairstyle can be the perfect compromise between function and beauty.

Whether your braid it back or add in a bun or two, you can keep your hair out of your face without sacrificing volume. If you want a sleeker style, you can add some hair wax of gel at the top of your hair. For a looser “messy bun” appearance, try adding some mouse of curl cream.

Wild and Free

Last but not least, one of the best ways to style 2C hair is to not style it! Your waves are wonderful as is and they don’t have to be styled any particular way.

All hair is beautiful, but the benefit of wavy hair is that it naturally has style and texture to it that straight hair doesn’t. That makes it the perfect hair to wash, add some product, diffuse or air dry and head out the door.

Styling Your 2C Hair

The fun part about wavy hair is that it’s so versatile and you can style it in almost any way. Whether you choose to put it up, layer it down or go all-natural, you can find the perfect style for your hair.
